Korean Rice Cake

Mood:Good Health:Good Weather:Cold

My good flatmate, Ning said she was going to make me a 'Nian Gao' dish for lunch. It reminded me of a brown sweet 'Nian Gao' that my mum made on every Chinese New Year! The 'Nian Gao' was sliced into thin pieces, each pieces was sandwiched with slices of yam, then dipped into flour mixed with eggs and into the pan for frying!

But I realised Ning's 'Nian Gao' was different...

The rice cake was white and tasteless!

First, she had to cook the hard rice cake in boiling water for sometime.
When the cakes became softer, she drained the water away and stirred fried them with Chili, vegetables and mushroom! The results...
KOREAN RICE CAKE
Ning can really take spicy food! It was hot! But I missed my mum 'Nian Gao'! Later in the evening, Rob treated me Chinese Prawn Noodles! Wow... today is my resting day in the kitchen!!!
