My good flatmate, Ning said she was going to make me a 'Nian Gao' dish for lunch. It reminded me of a brown sweet 'Nian Gao' that my mum made on every Chinese New Year! The 'Nian Gao' was sliced into thin pieces, each pieces was sandwiched with slices of yam, then dipped into flour mixed with eggs and into the pan for frying!
But I realised Ning's 'Nian Gao' was different...The rice cake was white and tasteless!
